Marine Biologist turned goldsmith, Merina Paton was born and raised on the mainland of British Columbia. Her work is rich in physical weight and symbolic meaning. Pieces that tell of our connection to the west coast, to ourselves, and to each other. Compassion for nature is at the core of her designs, as is the human connection with the coastal wilderness. She works mainly with reclaimed silver and uses Morse Code to create beautiful pieces of jewellery that have hidden messages waiting to be decoded. Known for hand sawn, multi-layered pendants, Merina now meshes her local knowledge with her love of nature to create one of a kind wearable art.
