City Of Bones by Cassandra Clare

Shadowhunters operate under human detection, ridding the earth of demons...that is until 16 year old Clary Fray witnesses a murder at the Pandemonium Club. Clary wants to call the police, but how will she explain that three invisible teens murdered a boy they claimed to be a demon? What evidence does she have when the body disappeared into thin air? Within the next 24 hours Clary's mother disappears, and she is attacked and almost killed by a lizard-like demon. But why would a demon, even a low rank one, have any interest in a mundane family? And why can Clary suddenly see a world that was meant to remain hidden?

Senica: I love fantasy novels, and this one has the perfect combination of mystery, intriguing characters, and fast paced plot. It combines romance, danger, and the supernatural. The characters really stood out for me, they are well developed, funny, and easy to relate with, which is important in any fantasy read.
